Lancaster, Los Angeles County
Test pilots from nearby Edwards Air Force Base have long made their homes in Lancaster. The city honors them on the Aerospace Walk of Honor, a row of granite monuments along Lancaster Boulevard that began in 1990 with Chuck Yeager among the first names. Sonic booms from flight tests over the desert are still a familiar sound.
